Speaker B:

And it's called tip T I Double P. And if you've never heard of it before, TIP stands for T Temperature, Intense exercise, Paced breathing and Progressive Muscle Relaxation.

Speaker B:

It's an incredibly effective set of techniques designed to help you regulate your emotions, especially when you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety.

Speaker B:

They are quick, simple and actionable ways that can help you cope with intense emotions and bring a sense of calm when you need it most.

from anxiety, or what to do about your anxious thoughts, feelings and actions using evidence based techniques, or if you want to learn about my 5 minute exercise that is going to help you to instantly reduce anxiety naturally.

Speaker C:

Speaker B:

and if you want to feel calm and confident, then sign up for the

Speaker C:

upcoming Beast with Anxiety workshop.

Speaker B:

Let's start with the first part of tip Temperature.

Speaker B:

Have you ever noticed how a splash of cold water on your face can jolt you awake in the morning?

Speaker B:

That's because changing your body's temperature can actually help Calm your mind.

Speaker B:

And here's how it works.

Speaker B:

When you apply something cold to your face, like cold water or holding an ice pack against your skin for a minute, it triggers what's known as a dive reflex.

Speaker B:

This reflex is your body's way of conserving energy and slowing down your heart rate.

Speaker B:

It's like your body is saying, hey, let's take a moment.

Speaker B:

So imagine you're at work, feeling completely overwhelmed by a looming deadline.

Speaker B:

Your mind is racing, your mind is flooded by anxious thoughts, and your anxiety is through the roof.

Speaker B:

Instead of letting that spiral out of control, take a quick break, head to the restroom, and splash some cold water on your face.

Speaker B:

As you feel the cold, take a few deep breaths.

Speaker B:

You will most likely notice your heart rate slowing down and your mind starting to clear.

Speaker B:

It's a simple yet powerful way to reset when anxiety strikes.

Speaker B:

Next up, we have intense exercise.

Speaker B:

This one's pretty straightforward, but incredibly effective.

Speaker B:

When anxiety hits, your body is flooded with adrenaline.

Speaker B:

That's what gives you that jittery, restless feeling.

Speaker B:

And the best way to burn off some of that excess adrenaline moving your body.

Speaker B:

Think about those moments when you're stuck in a loop of overthinking and your anxiety is just building and building.

Speaker B:

Instead of staying trapped in your head, get up and move, do some jumping jacks, run in place, or even dance around your living room.

Speaker B:

It doesn't really matter.

Speaker B:

And it doesn't have to be a full workout.

Speaker B:

Even just a few minutes of intense activity can help.

Speaker B:

The idea here is to get your heart rate up and shift your focus from your anxious thoughts to your physical activity.

Speaker B:

Plus, exercise releases endorphins, which are those feel good chemicals in your brain.

Speaker B:

It's like hitting a reset button on your mood.

Speaker B:

So next time you're feeling overwhelmed, try some quick, intense exercise.

Speaker B:

It can make a huge difference.

Speaker B:

Now, let's talk about paced breathing.

Speaker B:

And this is one of my favorite techniques because it's so simple and you can do it anywhere at any time to instantly calm your nervous system.

Speaker B:

So when you're anxious, your breathing often becomes shallow and rapid, which can actually make your anxiety worse.

Speaker B:

So by slowing down your breath, you can signal to your body that it's okay to relax.

Speaker B:

And there are many different techniques, but the one I'm gonna recommend to you today is called the four, seven, eight breathing technique.

Speaker B:

And here's how you do it.

Speaker B:

You're gonna inhale deeply through your nose for a count of four.

Speaker B:

You're gonna hold your breath for a count of seven, and then exhale slowly through Your mouth for a count of eight.

Speaker B:

Alright?

Speaker B:

So inhale for a count of four through the nose, hold it for seven and then exhale for eight through your mouth.

Speaker B:

If you try this exercise, please feel free to let me know how you feel because I know that even after just one cycle, you will probably notice a difference.

Speaker B:

Your heart rate will slow down, you start to feel more centered.

Speaker B:

And this technique is great because you can do it anywhere, at your desk, in a meeting or even in your car.

Speaker B:

It's a quick way to bring some calm into your day.

Speaker B:

Now lastly, we have progressive muscle relaxation or pmr.

Speaker B:

And this technique involves tensing and then releasing different muscle groups in your body, helping you to release physical tension and promote relaxation.

Speaker B:

So you can do this by just finding a comfortable place where you can sit or lie down.

Speaker B:

And start with your toes, curl them tightly for a few seconds and really feel that tension and then slowly release and then move up to your calves, tighten those muscles, feel the tension and then slowly release and work your way up through your body so thighs, abdomen, chest, arms and all the way up to your face.

Speaker B:

And as you do this, pay attention to how your body feels.

Speaker B:

Notice the difference between the tension and the relaxations.

Speaker B:

Like giving your body permission to let go of all that buildup stress.

Speaker B:

And this is especially helpful at the end of a very long day when you're trying to wind down and get ready for bed.

Speaker B:

So there you have it.

Speaker B:

The tip.

Speaker B:

Temperature, intense exercise, paced breathing and progressive muscle relaxation.

Speaker B:

These are quick, effective tools that you can use to cope with your anxiety and bring yourself back to a state of calm and balance.

Speaker B:

Now I encourage you to give these techniques a try and see which one works best for you.

Speaker B:

And remember, the goal isn't to eliminate anxiety completely.

Speaker B:

That's not what we do here.

Speaker B:

It's about learning how to be okay with it so you can live a more peaceful, more confident, more fulfilling and more balanced life.

Speaker B:

So I hope that this was helpful for you.

Speaker B:

And if you're interested in learning more about how to calm your nervous system and deal with difficult emotions.

Speaker B:

As you know, I provide online counseling for anyone living in Australia and I also do hypnotherapy for anxiety for individuals anywhere in the world.

Speaker B:

And I also have this brand new four month program starting next month called Peace with Anxiety RTT program which is online and includes one to one individual rapid transformational therapy sessions, weekly trainings, monthly Q&As and numerous resources and tools.

Speaker B:

And it was created for high achieving, perfectionistic, overthinking people pleasing women who are so done with anxiety and self doubt, holding them back and feeling overwhelmed and burned out while trying to succeed in their careers, in motherhood, in their personal and social lives.

Speaker B:

So this is an intimate program.

Speaker B:

1. I'm a Hypnotherapist, counsellor, baby-mum, podcast host, recovering perfectionist, big fan of cold coffee, metal music, deep conversations, and anything with chocolate ☕️🍫

2. I grew up in Greece and moved to Australia at 18 chasing a life that felt more like me.

3. For years I lived with high-functioning anxiety, hyper-responsibility, hypervigilance, overthinking and people-pleasing. Those patterns shaped me, they’re still part of my story, but now they guide me rather than control me.

4. There was always a duality in me: the girl who wanted to be kind and helpful, and the woman who wanted to succeed and explore her potential.

5. I studied psychology because I’m endlessly curious about why people do what they do, then continued my post-grad in counselling and hypnotherapy after my own therapy changed everything for me.

6. The diagnostic model doesn’t fully fit how I understand anxiety or self-worth; I see anxious patterns as protective strategies learned in childhood, not labels that define a person. That perspective shapes how I work.

7. I specialised in forensic psychology/counselling out of a passion for social and criminal justice, and I’ve worked in community settings because helping people is my core value.

8. I’ve been in therapy myself, it taught me how to slow down, listen in, and feel safe being myself. That life-changing experience is why I retrained as a therapist.

9. My mental health was a real challenge in my teens and twenties; I manage it now through ongoing therapy, lifestyle choices, and lots of self-awareness.

10. I truly want to help women break out of the cycles they learned in childhood; anxiety, overthinking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, so they can discover who they truly are and feel calm, confident, and safe in their own presence.

You might know me from the Peace with Anxiety podcast or my short, no-fluff mini-courses.

I’m also creating new ways to support you beyond 1:1 therapy, if you want updates, sign up to my newsletter in the link in bio.

Thanks for being here 🫶🏻
